Coming back after Easter! New readings, projects and tasks

Today we have held our weekly meeting after the Easter' break. In this occasion, we had to end the book "La Revolution Moleculaire" by Félix Guattari. In addition, we have arranged some pending tasks after these days without work: our next data gathering throughout a mix between consensus conferences and focus group; and some scenarios collection

About Guattari's book, we have mainly discussed the last chapter of the book. In it, we have found some interesting concept (excuse us for the English translation): Assigning semiotics, Capitalism (again), axiomatics, faciality (Deleuzan concept) and what is, then, the Molecular Revolution.

We have agreed one of the main concept is the assigning semitiocs (sémiotiques asignifiantes) and we have tried to link it with our current work about scenarios: Assigning semiotics are ways whereby scenarios work, a diagramatization. It seeks to diagramatize the catastrophe, the uncertainty.

About capitalism, it works in a same way like squizoanalysis: both deterritorialize issues and content. But, unlike squizoanalysis, capitalisms quickly territorialize again these issues through axiomatics, through codes. But not any code: those pertaining to capitalism, those that make equivalent any element to any other one.

And that's all! Next week we will discuss a very interesting (and complementary to this one) book: Aberrant Movements by David Lapoujade. You are invited to come!

First meeting about "La Revolution Moleculaire" by F. Guattari

Today we have held the first meeting about the book "La Revolution Moleculaire" by Félix Guattari.

Although the book was written in the 70's, it had not been translated until now. We have planned the meeting around for main questions:

- What is capitalism?

- What is an "agencement" (assemblage, in English)?

- What is desire?

- What is then, the molecular revolution?

In brief, our conclusion was that, Capitalism is a particular agencement, the agencement of our current time. Capitalism has the feature of deterritorialize flows, and then, whatever actant (person, object...) is changeable by other one: all is comparable and replaceable. Asignificant machines are also an important element in the ways Capitalism produces these deterritorializations and reterritorializations. Capitalism captures desire throughout particular asignificant machines.

About desire, it is a flow. Capitalism creates particular desire flows. But desires are not inside me: they are on particular angecements (socius). Thus, desires is inseparable from contexts.

Agencements is a concept employed to explain desire. It is a practice, a relation between heterogeneus elements that share a territory and they have a become. In Deleuzian's terminology, agencements are the "concretization" of the potencial multiplicities of the immanent plane.

Finally, the molecular revolution is the way to subvert capitalism. It is the capacity to open a space of creation within these agencies (capitalism) in which we already live. But molecular does not mean the opposite to the norm, but it has to be with desire.

Other important concepts we have discussed are diagramatic semiotic and significant: we tend to equate diagram with image, but an image represents both more and less than a diagram. The diagram picks up relations, without entering more specificity

POBICS' webpage & blog are coming back!

POBICS is coming back, and it is evidenced by the "make up" of our webpage (www.pobics.com). From now on, you will check weekly news, novelties and much more in the webpage.

In the meantime, next week we will hold a meeting to discuss the recent translation into Spanish of the book "La Revolution Moleculaire" by Felix Guattari. Details are in our webpage ("events" section), but if you want to attend, feel freet to come and discuss with us this classic book.

As we are saying, from next Tuesday you will find new information about our daily tasks here. A little summary about the aforementioned meeting is ensured. So, what if you try a trip to our brand-new webpage and tell us your feelings? We shall be glad about hearing you!
